- 90-93 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, William Kelley: „A promising effort, the 2021 Latour à Pomerol unwinds in the glass with aromas of rich berry fruit mingled with licorice, sweet soil tones and exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, supple and lively, it's framed by powdery, youthfully firm tannins that assert themselves on the finish. If it fleshes out appreciably with élevage it may make my score seem conservative.“

- 90-92 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: „The 2021 Latour a Pomerol is a very beautiful and promising wine. As always, Latour a Pomerol has a distinctive classical strictness to it, and yet the 2021 has just enough mid-palate pliancy to pull it off. Sweet red cherry fruit, blood orange, spice, menthol and dried flowers all grace this very promising, elegant Pomerol.“

- 90-92 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: „The 2021 Latour a Pomerol was picked 23 September to 1 October. Recent vintages have been a tad inconsistent, though I appreciate the aromatics here, cohesive with black cherries, kirsch and maybe just a very slight VA element giving it a kick. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, velvety smooth with modest depth. What is missing is a crescendo on the finish, an instrument restricted tot he same fwe notes. Structured and linear on the finish. Not bad … but give me more.“

- 93 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, breitere Randaufhellung.

- 93 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: „Cocoa powder-dusted blackcurrants on the nose, some baking spices and a gentle smoked aroma too. Round and generous on the palate, the tannins so sleek and fine, delivering a fresh, cool blue fruit flavour with a wet stone texture that almost cleans the tongue in its distinction. This has a dark mid-palate, the black liquorice and touches of bitter dark chocolate giving it a serious nature, while the fruit is more redcurrant and red cherry in nature. Together with the acidity, it keeps the overall frame vibrant. So many aspects of Merlot coming through in this vintage. Lots of energy here with a touch of cinnamon and clove spice on the finish giving detail. This will need time to come around, the austerity poking through slightly but extremely well structured. Drinking Window 2026 – 2048“

- 94-95 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „Already delicious, with very fine-grained, powdery tannins. Creamy. Juicy walnuts, blueberries, almonds and dried flowers. Medium to full body. Lengthy finish. Long and deep.“

Notizen des Weinguts: Latour à Pomerol, which draws its name from the tower that adorns this charming château, was acquired by Mme Loubat, who also owned Château Pétrus, in 1917. Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix has farmed the vineyard since 1962. The vineyard is characterised by the diversity of its soils, which brings complexity and harmony to the wine: gravel and clay for a marvellous parcel next to the church of Pomerol; loam surrounding the château. The vineyard receives the same care applied to all Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix properties: leafthinning and green-harvesting to allow for optimal grape maturity followed by a manual harvest. The wine ferments in concrete vats before being aged in oak barrels. Château Latour à Pomerol is known for producing generous, concentrated wines that strike a perfect balance between elegance and power. 2021 Vintage The 2021 vintage demanded careful attention throughout the year, but the challenge united the vigneronnes and vignerons who produced, thanks to their efforts, a crop of good quality. Fastidious vineyard work, a gentle approach in the cellar, attention to detail and judicious decision-making were key in producing charming, delicate, elegant wines. The rainy and mild winter brought on an early and uneven budbreak, between March 24th and 27th. This early development put the young buds at great risk of a spring frost, such as the one that occured during the nights of the 6th and 7th of April, when temperatures dropped to -3 and -4°C. Candles and wind machines allowed us to gain 2°C and avoid serious damage. Flowering unfolded very nicely at the end of May, but the heterogeneity from budbreak persisted. June and July were mostly gloomy with a few gorgeous hot and sunny episodes in the middle of each month. Veraison occurred slowly. August was dry and nearly caught up the summer’s lack of sunshine. Once veraison was complete, 70 people ‘compensated’ for nature’s deficiencies: almost 14 000 hours of vineyard work were dedicated to meticulous efforts (secondary shoot removal, leaf-plucking, green-harvest, grooming...). This work allowed us to achieve a homogenous crop of good quality. Harvest took place from September 23rd to October 1st under favorable conditions, with optimal maturity reached on most parcels.
