- Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: „Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Fonbadet opens with fragrant notes of kirsch, black raspberries and red roses, plus suggestions of tobacco leaf, graphite and redcurrant jelly, plus a hint of bay leaves. The medium-bodied palate is elegant and refreshing, offering a solid backbone of firm, chewy tannins, finishing savory.“

- 92-94 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: „The 2020 Fonbadet opens with a burst of inky dark fruit, spice, leather and licorice. That initial exuberance doesn’t totally carry through to the palate, where the wine feels a bit austere. It will be interesting to see if the 2020 fleshes out a bit more during élevage. I like the energy, but the wine feels a bit compact.“

- 90-92 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: „The 2020 Fonbadet has a fresh, vibrant bouquet of blackberry, cedar and light minty aromas, all quite gentle, and a light seaweed scent that emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, a little oaky on the entry but that will be integrated with time. Touches of dark chocolate and vanilla appear toward the finish. This is a fine Fonbadet, but they need to watch that level of new oak to check it does not impede the fruit once in bottle.“

- 90-92 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feine reife Herzkirschen, ein Hauch von Cassis, zart nach kandierten Orangenzesten, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, elegant, feine Süße im Kern, integrierte Tannine, rotbeerige Nuancen im Nachhall.“

- 90 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: „Classic Pauillac, very much old school in that this closes down pretty early on, and keeps the blackberry and bilberry fruit from fully opening up. Enjoyable appellation typicity though, and this will be a lovely food wine in a few years time. A yield of 55hl/ha. 40% new oak. Drinking Window 2023 – 2034“

- 16,5 Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON, Alstair Cooper: „Cask sample. Has a very fragrant nose – cassis, floral hints and a spiced peppery note – classic Pauillac. Medium bodied, cool blue and dark fruits with very fine tannins, a suggestion of creamy, integrating oak – there is wonderful extraction here and it shows real finesse already. A nice streak of freshness keeps this focused and I expect this to blossom beautifully over the coming years – yet still will be drinking relatively early. Bravo!“

- 17 Punkte Rene Gabriels BORDEAUX TOTAL, Andre Kunz: „Kunz Fassprobe 2021: Samtenes, fruchtiges, kräftiges Bouquet, Pflaumen, Cassis, Heidelbeeren, Feuerstein, Lakritze. Ausgewogener, voller, fruchtiger Gaumen mit dichter Struktur, dunkler Frucht, gutem Tannin, fein muskulöser Struktur, langer, voller Abgang.“

- 91-93 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: „Always a terrific wine, especially over the past seven to eight years, the 2020 Château Fonbadet offers a rich, mouth-filling, medium to full-bodied style delivering lots of classic darker currants fruit, a touch of flowers and floral nuances, plenty of background oak, and wonderful purity of fruit. I love its tannins. This is unquestionably going to be an outstanding Pauillac that will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and have 20-25 years of overall longevity.“

- 93-94 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „A young red with depth and firmness. The ultra fine tannins are firm and formed, already giving this wine impressive energy.“

- 93 Punkte MARCUS DEL MONEGO
