- 91-93 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Carbonnieux was harvested from the 18th of September to the 10th of October. Yields were 45 hectoliters per hectare this year. The alcohol came in at 14.5% with a pH of 3.69. It is being aged in French oak barrels, 40% new, for an anticipated 12-15 months. Deep garnet-purple in color, it prances out of the glass with invigorating scents of fresh redcurrants, black cherries and cassis with touches of bay leaves, pencil shavings and cloves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has impressive vivacity with loads of crunchy black fruits and a refreshing line, framed by grainy tannins, finishing with a minty lift."

- 90-92 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "The 2019 Carbonnieux is dark, fleshy and inviting. Blueberry jam, gravel, spice, menthol and lavender infuse the 2019 with striking depth. Savory, earthy and mineral notes add layers of nuance to a core of inky dark fruit in this super-expressive, juicy Pessac-Léognan. The 2019 is promising, that much is clear. The oak needs to integrate. Then again, this is a barrel sample shipped from Bordeaux to New York, so we will see. There is real depth and quite a bit of potential."

- 92-94 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: "The 2019 Carbonnieux was picked 18 September to 10 October at 45hl/ha, matured in 40% new oak. It has an expressive bouquet with lively blackberry, bilberry and brown spices, all well defined and "natural". The palate is silky smooth on the entry with plush black fruit laced with black pepper and allspice, a touch of clove towards the seductive finish. This is a more sensual Carbonnieux than I am accustomed to. Maybe I hope it will develop more grip, but it certainly will appeal to those seeking a plush Pessac-Léognan. I wonder about its longevity vis-a-vis its peers. Tasted three times, later samples showing a little more charm and flesh."

- 92 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: "Strong black pepper, cloves, saffron and smoked cedar notes, adding up to spicy fruit and oak influence. A little overpowering on the attack but it settles down and this has excellent personality and hold. Good stuff. 5% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. A yield of 45hl/ha. Drinking Window 2025 – 2040"

- 91-93 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "The red 2019 Château Carbonnieux also showed nicely, with a deep plum/purple color as well as outstanding notes of red and black fruits, chocolate, tobacco, and damp earth. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and textured, it has loads of potential and is well worth checking out."

- 93-94 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "I am impressed. Blue-fruit and blackberry character with crushed stone and cement. Dried lavender, too. It’s full and chewy with polished tannins. Really focused. One of the best I have had from here."

Komplexes Bouquet mit einem Korb schwarzer Johannisbeeren, dahinter Lakritze und Heidelbeerdrops. Am molligen Gaumen mit seidiger Textur und eleganter Struktur, fein sandiges Extrakt und mittlerer Körper. Im gebündelten Finale mit schwarzbeerigen Konturen, tiefgründiger Mineralik und dynamischer Rasse – Top-Leistung dieses Jahr von Eric Perrin!"
