Beschreibung

- 89-91 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: „The 2021 Belgrave is a tasty Haut-Medoc. Black cherry, gravel, graphite, cloves and licorice infuse the 2021 with quite a bit of complexity. This potent, virile Haut-Medoc should blossom nicely with a few years in bottle. I very much like the vibrancy here.“

- 89-91 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: „The 2021 Belgrave was picked from Septmeber 27 to October 7 and contains a little more Cabernet this year; it  was aged in 29% new oak. The nose takes ist time opening, revealing blackberry, touches of black pepper and menthol, all freah and vibrant and the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with insistent grip on the entry. Quite Saint-Julien in style (no surprise given ist vines border the appellation), with fine structure and salinity on the finish. Maybe just a little short, but I admire ist classicism and sapidity.“

- 91 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.

- 92 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: „Super aromatic on the nose, really quite expressive and bursting out of the glass with bramble tones, black pepper and perfumed black fruits. Soft and appealing on the palate, this has such an immediate charm, partly because of the ripe fruits that have a really juicy, chewy sweetness to them and partly because of the dry, bitter, spice-edged tannins that give angles to the fruit and depth to the palate but also that lick of wet stone and graphite minerality. This is good stuff, I love the expression and the attitude here, it's a 'look at me' wine with nice presentation, power, persistence and frame. Drinking Window 2026 – 2035“

- 18 Punkte Rene Gabriels BORDEAUX TOTAL, Andre Kunz: „(65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot) Seidenes, elegantes, dunkles Bouquet, Cassis, Zedern, Schiefer. Eleganter, dichtverwobener Gaumen mit dichter, dunkler Frucht, viel feinem Tannin, vielfältiger Aromatik, eleganter Struktur, langer, frischer Abgang. 18/20 2030 – 2055“

- 17,5 Punkte WEINWISSER: 65 % Cabernet Sauvignon,  30 % Merlot, 5 % Petit Verdot.

- 91-92 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „A nicely polished red with currants, walnuts and hints of fresh herbs. Medium body. Fine tannins. Fresh and refined.“

Notizen des Weinguts: The great wine of the property is Château Belgrave, classified 5th Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Thanks to the studies carried out on the property to understand the behaviour of the vine according to the nature of the subsoil and its water supply, the Château Belgrave team has acquired a perfect knowledge of the vineyard. The viticultural work, associated with reasoned protection, as well as the harvest have been adapted to this cartography. The wine expresses all the finesse and personality of this great terroir. Dense and deep, it is distinguished by its ageing capacity, its aromatic complexity and its very Saint-Julien character. Vinification & Ageing Pre-fermentation cold maceration depending on the characteristics of each plot. Alcoholic fermentation with 1 to 3 pumping-overs and/or 1 pigeage per day, depending on the batches. Malolactic fermentation partially in barrels. The partially underground barrel cellar hall has been completely renovated, to highly modern standards, with the latest high-performance equipment controlling relative humidity and temperature. Part of the wine matured in barrel on lees to preserve the aromas. In oak barrels for 12 to 14 months.
